Auld Lang Syne es una canción en dialecto ecocés escrita por Robert Burns alrededor de 1788. Se ha convertido en una canción tradicional de amistad que se canta en fiestas y en la Nochevieja. El título quiere decir "old long since," u "old long ago." La melodía está basada en una tonada folk ecocesa y fue publicada por primera vez junto con la letra en el Scots Musical Museum (1796).

(Se trata de un tema popular entre los "baladeers" irlandeses. Es una celebración de los tres vicios más famosos: vino, mujeres y canción, y el coste de nuestra indulgencia. Old Grog es el mote de Edward Vernon, fallecido en 1757, almirante inglés responsable de diluir el ron de los marineros.)
